Engagement Photos at Hampstead Heath & Kenwood House: One of London's Most Romantic Locations
If you're looking for somewhere in London that feels a million miles away from the city, it's hard to beat Hampstead Heath. With ancient woodland, rolling meadows, hidden pathways, peaceful ponds and spectacular views across London, it's one of my favourite places for an engagement photoshoot.
And then there's Kenwood House.
Sitting proudly on the northern edge of the Heath, Kenwood House brings something completely different to your photographs. Its elegant white façade, sweeping lawns and beautiful historic setting add a timeless feel that works perfectly alongside the more natural landscapes of Hampstead Heath. Together, they give us an incredible variety of backdrops without ever needing to travel far. Kenwood House is surrounded by 112 acres of landscaped parkland designed by Humphry Repton, making it one of London's most picturesque settings for a relaxed couples' session.
Why Have an Engagement Shoot?
Lots of couples tell me they're a little nervous about being photographed before their wedding day. The good news is that an engagement shoot isn't about standing awkwardly and smiling at the camera.
It's about going for a walk together.
We'll chat, laugh, wander through the Heath and I'll quietly capture the two of you just being yourselves. By the end of it, you'll have forgotten the camera is even there, which means you'll feel much more relaxed when your wedding day arrives.

We can begin among the woodland paths before making our way towards Kenwood House for elegant architectural portraits. Along the way we'll find open fields, quiet tree-lined avenues, hidden benches, lakes, reflections and beautiful natural light.
That variety means your gallery feels like several different locations rolled into one.
Natural Photography Without the Awkward Posing
If you've looked through my website, you'll already know I never force couples into uncomfortable poses.
I'll give you a bit of direction where needed, but most of the time I'll simply encourage you to walk together, hold hands, chat, have a laugh and enjoy each other's company.
These are the moments I love the most. The smiles are genuine. The hugs are real.
And your photographs actually look like you.
The Best Time of Day
I usually recommend either early morning or the last couple of hours before sunset.
The light is softer, the Heath is generally quieter and Kenwood House looks particularly beautiful when the low sun catches its white exterior. Morning light also works especially well across the south front of the house.
Weekdays are usually a better choice than weekends if you'd like fewer visitors in the background and a more relaxed atmosphere.
