Greek Wedding Photographer London: Natural Images, Meaningful Moments
If you're planning a Greek wedding in London, you'll already know that it's a little different from the average wedding day. There are traditions, rituals, family moments and cultural details that you’ll want, and deserve to be photographed by someone who truly understands them. My name is Christine and I come from a Greek Cypriot family. I've been photographing Greek weddings for over 16 years ( 10 of which have been in Cyprus) and have photographed literally hundreds of Greek Orthodox weddings. From grand weddings in larger Greek churches to intimate ceremonies at small historic Greek Orthodox churches, I've had the privilege of documenting every type of Greek wedding imaginable.
More importantly, I understand the rhythm of a Greek wedding day.
I know when the emotional moments are about to happen. I know when to step back and let the traditions unfold naturally. I know the significance behind each part of the ceremony and how to capture it beautifully without getting in the way.
For couples, this means less explaining, less worrying and more confidence that every important moment will be captured naturally and authentically.
The Stolisma – Where the Story Begins
The Stolisma is one of my favourite parts of any Greek wedding day.
This is where the anticipation builds. Family and friends gather to help the bride and groom prepare, while music, laughter and SO much emotion fill the room. You can feel it all around you. It really is something special.
For the groom, (where I usually begin) there's often already a wonderfully lively atmosphere as I take pictures of details such as shoes, suits, after shave, watch, razor etc and then capture the essence of the stolisma as it unfolds..
For the bride, (where I usually begin) this often includes capturing her getting into her dress, maybe shooting final touches to hair and makeup, shooting all the beautiful details and definitely those special moments with mum and bridal party before descending downstairs where everyone is gathered.

The Greek Orthodox Wedding
The Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony is one of the most beautiful and symbolic wedding ceremonies you'll ever witness.
Unlike many civil ceremonies, the focus is less on the couple speaking vows and more on the sacred rituals that have been passed down for the last two thousand years.
The ceremony is rich with symbolism, including:
The Exchange of Rings
The rings are blessed and exchanged three times, symbolising the union of the couple through God's grace.
The Crowning Ceremony (Stefana)
One of the most iconic moments of a Greek wedding.
The crowns are placed on the heads of the bride and groom and exchanged three times. These beautiful crowns symbolise the glory and honour bestowed upon the couple and their new shared life together. The couple then drink from a shared cup of wine, representing the joys and challenges they will experience together throughout married life. The priest then leads the couple around the ceremonial table three times, accompanied by the koumbaro or koumbara This joyful procession symbolises their first steps together as husband and wife.
Having photographed hundreds of Orthodox ceremonies, I know exactly where to be for each of these moments while remaining respectful of the church and the service itself.
Many churches have particular customs, restrictions or preferred photographer positions. Having worked at Greek Orthodox churches throughout London for many years means I can work seamlessly alongside priests and church staff while ensuring every important moment is captured beautifully.
The Cocktail Party
After the ceremony comes one of the most relaxed and enjoyable parts of the day.
Guests congratulate the newlyweds, enjoy drinks and canapés, and catch up with family and friends.
This is often when confetti celebrations, family photographs and couple portraits take place.
I keep this part of the day relaxed and efficient. Years of experience mean I can organise family photographs quickly without turning them into a lengthy production, leaving you free to enjoy your guests.
It's also the perfect opportunity to create natural portraits that don't feel forced or overly posed. Whether we're photographing outside the church, in a nearby London park or at your reception venue, my aim is always to create photographs that feel genuine and timeless.
Greek Wedding Reception Photography
If you've ever attended a Greek wedding reception, you'll know that this is where the energy really ramps up.
The vibes are amazing, the food is plentiful and the dance floor is rarely empty.
Greek dancing is such an important part of the celebration and one of the highlights to me as a photographer. Having photographed Greek receptions for more than 16 years, I know how to anticipate the action and capture the excitement without disrupting it.
The dancing often moves quickly, circles form unexpectedly and family members jump into the celebrations at a moment's notice. Experience makes all the difference in capturing these moments naturally.
Some of the most memorable photographs from a Greek wedding are made during these celebrations - grandparents dancing alongside grandchildren, guests joining hands in giant circles and the pure joy that fills the room literally hours after the formalities are over. Its SO much fun!
As a final word, my approach to your wedding photography is always relaxed, unobtrusive and documentary-led. I'll capture the big moments, the tiny moments and everything in between, creating a collection of photographs that tells the complete story of your wedding day.
If you're planning a Greek wedding in London and are looking for a photographer who understands both the traditions and the people behind them, I'd love to hear about your plans. :-)
