As a popular Chelsea Old Town Hall wedding photographer I’ve photographed at a fair few pubs in the Chelsea area now so though I’d put together this little guide with hopefully some helpful info and some pics to help you decide where to celebrate afterwards!
The Trafalgar, Chelsea
Once you’ve had your ceremony and photos on the steps of Chelsea Old Town Hall, there’s nothing better than to literally walk across the King’s Road and start celebrating right away. The Trafalgar is directly opposite, which makes it an easy choice if you’d prefer to keep everyone together without organising transport.
I’ve photographed a wedding celebration here, and it works for couples who want that relaxed pub feel with somewhere to settle in for drinks and food. Check out more images for The Trafalgar HERE.
The Surprise, Chelsea
Homely and independent, The Surprise is a lovely choice for a smaller wedding celebration. It’s about a 10-minute walk from Chelsea Old Town Hall, so guests can head straight over after the ceremony. Tucked away on Christchurch Terrace, it’s a gorgeous pub with a relaxed neighbourhood feel.
The Surprise feels full of character, with rich colours, cosy seating and an eclectic mix of art, books and board games. Interior designer Isabella Worsley has given it a relaxed, welcoming feel. Upstairs, the light-filled Hamilton Room is a lovely private space for a smaller wedding celebration.
The Prince Albert, Battersea
If you’re happy to take your guests a little further after your Chelsea Old Town Hall ceremony, The Prince Albert is a gorgeous pub option right beside Battersea Park. I’ve photographed a celebration here, and the upstairs Bridge Room gives you a private space with huge windows overlooking the park. You can plan anything from drinks and canapés to a sit-down meal, while the Royal Garden offers an outdoor spot for guests to mingle.
The plus: You get a stunning private room and an outdoor space, with Battersea Park literally across the road for couple photos. The consideration: It’s across the river from the Town Hall, so you’ll need to plan how everyone gets there. The garden is offered for semi-private hire, so ask the pub what that would mean for your day.
The Bridge Room
Seats 56 and standing room for up to 90 guests, The Bridge Room can also be transformed for DJ/dancing.
The Phene
Just a five-minute walk from Chelsea Old Town Hall, The Phene is a brilliant choice for couples looking for a nearby pub wedding reception in Chelsea. With a leafy pub garden, cosy bar and a choice of private dining rooms, there’s space for drinks and canapés, a relaxed wedding breakfast or a bigger celebration with family and friends. Seasonal British food and a welcoming pub atmosphere make it easy to settle in and chat, while the short walk from the register office keeps everything straightforward for your guests. A great option if you want your Chelsea wedding celebrations to feel relaxed, sociable and personal.
