🌿 Best Green Spots for Wedding Photos After Your Ceremony at Southwark Register Office (Camberwell House)

If you’ve chosen to tie the knot at Southwark Register Office, and wondering “Where can we go nearby for some lovely outdoor photos?” I’m here to help! I’ve shot at here many times so have a few suggestions for you.

The best thing is, you don’t have to go too far. There are some really beautiful, leafy spots within easy walking distance of the Register Office - perfect for a relaxed couples shoot or a few family portraits before you head to your reception.

If you haven’t yet read my main feature about weddings at Southwark Register Office, it’s a great place to start - lots pics inside and out. But if you’re already planning your photos afterwards, here are some of my favourite green spots nearby for a relaxed post-ceremony shoot. 🌿

🌸 Lucas Gardens (2 minutes away)

This is hands-down the most convenient choice - it’s literally around the corner from the Register Office on Peckham Road/Vestry Road.

It’s small, but charming. Plenty of trees, benches and a nice stretch of lawn that works perfectly for group shots, confetti, and some natural portraits. Because it’s so close, we can just wander over straight after your ceremony, which keeps things effortless and pretty spontaneous.

If you’re after classic “just married” shots with greenery in the background, this is your spot.

⛪ St Giles’ Churchyard (5–10 minutes walk away)

A bit further along the Peckham Rd, walking towards Camberwell Green, lies St Giles’ Churchyard. And probably one of my favourite hidden spots. It has a beautiful, historic atmosphere - mature trees, ivy, brick walls and a lovely view of the nearby Georgian townhouses..

It feels peaceful and a bit tucked away, which makes it ideal for those quieter, romantic moments after the buzz of your ceremony. AND it photographs beautifully..

🌷 Myatt’s Fields Park (about 12–15 mins on foot/5 mins car ride away)

If you don’t mind a slightly longer stroll or have a driver, Myatt’s Fields Park is another beautiful option. It’s one of those classic South London parks with a bandstand, flower borders, and lovely tree-lined paths that catch the light perfectly. There’s a real community feel here - calm, green, and full of charm - ideal for a few romantic portraits if you’d like something a touch more expansive but still close to the Register Office.
